Three things make a sapphire rare, and this one has all three on paper from GIA: it is natural, it is from Sri Lanka — the island the trade still calls Ceylon — and it shows no indications of heating.

That last line is the one collectors read first. The overwhelming majority of blue sapphires on the market are heat-treated to force their colour. This one never was: what you see is what came out of the ground. Unheated Ceylon material is a small fraction of supply, and it is priced accordingly.

The oval is a violetish blue, brilliant-cut crown over a step-cut pavilion, held in a double halo — an inner ring of round brilliants, an outer sunburst of tapered baguettes — so the stone sits raised and lit from every side.

About the carat weight

We would rather you hear this from us than find it yourself. GIA recorded the centre stone as a client-stated weight of 5.18 carats — because the sapphire is mounted, GIA did not remove it to weigh it. What GIA did test and confirm is everything that matters most: that the stone is a natural, unheated sapphire from Sri Lanka. The measurements on the report (11.90 x 8.28 x 5.50 mm) are GIA's own and are consistent with a stone of roughly that size.

The Finish

Each piece ships in a Bizak & Co. presentation box, fully insured and signature-required, with a certificate of authenticity. Exact carat weights, gold karat and ring size are confirmed in writing on request — examined personally by a trained gemologist.

The GIA report travels with the ring. Verify it yourself at GIA.edu before you commit — the number is 2205065975. Viewing at the Seybold Building in Miami is welcome, and we will happily put it in front of your own appraiser. Make an offer above or message us on WhatsApp.
